Nutrition plays a vital role in helping cancer patients during treatment. Good nutrition can help maintain energy and strength, reduce the risk of infection, improve tolerance to side-effects, and promote healing and recovery. Patients in our survivorship program work with our dietitians to create individualized nutrition plans, learn how to prepare quick and healthy meals, and maintain a healthy body composition during treatment.
Melanie Hendershott, RDN, CSO and Lauren Larson, MS, RDN are our Spirit of Survival registered dietitians. Melanie received her Master's degree in nutrition from Rosalind Franklin School of Medicine and is board certified in oncology nutrition. Lauren received her Master's degree in nutrition from Colorado State University and is working towards becoming board certified in oncology.
